Lucky Pup Rescue does not have a physical shelter. We are a small, non-profit, family-run rescue based in Southern Maine. We believe that all dogs deserve a safe and happy home regardless of where they are from; we work to re-home both local dogs in need and Southern dogs from our overcrowded partner shelters. We are happy to answer any questions and inquiries into our dogs but prefer email. We sometimes are busy running children and dogs to various events so please be patient and we will get back to you as soon as possible! Thank you for wanting to rescue a dog!

Adopting a Friend

We require a potential adopter to fill out our application and agree to reference checks, a home visit and often a phone interview before approving an application. Once your application is approved, a dog can be placed in your home. Dogs here in foster care can be placed immediately and dogs in our partner shelters can take 2-3 weeks, sometimes longer in extenuating circumstances, to arrive North. All dogs come with a health certificate, up-to-date vaccines and they ride a USDA approved transport to New England. We strictly follow Maine laws for dog rescue. Our fee is $300 ($250 for senior dogs over 7yrs) which covers the transport, health certificate and spay or neuter if the dog is old enough and able to be altered. Any unaltered dogs require an additional $100 deposit per Maine law which is refundable upon proof of spay or neuter. Please click: Lucky Pup Rescue Email to email your request for an application.
